Really impressed with Pret a Manger. (Chain of Coffee Shops). They sell some really nice food and great coffee. Their brownies are brilliant. Really impressed with this deed of ensuring the days food is given out to the homeless at the end of the night against the backdrop of threats from councils up and down the nations of the UK and Mayor of London, Boris Johnstons delegates. (Read about it on link) If only Pret A Mangers philanthropy was replicated by others. I just seen on the news yesterday that three grown men who were homeless and very hungry, had gotten some food from the bins at the back of Iceland. The food was fine, it was just food that couldnt be displayed due to it being past its display by date, and some other foodstuffs were in damaged boxing or coverings. The police who were stationed next door to Iceland seen the guys taking the dumped food and decided to leg it down to where they were at before they moved on, the three guys were charged and taken away to the police cells. Another ex employee also tells that theyd had a memo from the chief exec telling them that they were to pour bleach over all the food waste at the end of the day before it went into the bins. Just to stop people taking it. These are people. Pouring bleach over unspoilt food in order to stop another human being sating their hunger pangs. Doing this could be construed by some as laying down rat poison. Were naw rats, were human beings. - To quote one of the greatest social justice campaigners of our times. Kudos to you Pret A Manger. You are definitely putting some of the supposed affordable shops of the people to shame. Well done. Some would say its this climate of greed and ruthlessness to the weak and vulnerable spilling down from the table at the top (London) that they want to getaway from by voting Yes.
