Really pleased that common sense has prevailed with regards to the parking charges in Hitchin. Its a shame the same cant be said for the price decreases that the North Herts Taxi drivers are going to have to swallow as from 1st December.Lets be honest now....who of you , if told that your wages was going down by 6% would feel aggreived? The poor nurses are being told they cant get a 1% pay rise which is disgraceful but Cab drivers are being told 6%.We see how many Taxis there are in Hitchin (councils fault), and every one is earning less now compared to 3 years ago.They took away double time fares last year and reduced the time and ahalf fares by an hour each morning.We dont mind if you agree with that as its already done but to then reduce the rate again a year later is wrong.Train and bus fares have gone up, but taxis go down!!! It has been estimated that most drivers will be approximately lose £30-£40 a week...do you find this fair.? This is not a post for people to slag off cab firms/drivers but to highlight the Council trying to play God with peoples livelihoods. ... Id like to point out that I am an ex full time driver (now part time) but I am behind all the drivers, both firms and independents in their annoyance about this. Im glad Ill be out of it altogether soon. Thanks for reading.
