RecRock has been given funding from Job Centre Plus to work with 60 unemployed volunteers in a year to improve their skills, confidence and self esteem, so we are looking for referrals. Do you know anyone who is unemployed, interested in a career in creative industries? We will have computers/recording equipment set up on Caerphilly Business Park in a creative fun environment for people to work on their projects. The individuals will be with us for 8 weeks, 2 days a week. Or less if theyre still entry level and need building up a bit. The participants will be able to take part in the following things - Put on a showcase event / gig - Admin / office skills - Create a music video - Recording - Graphic / Website Design - Live sound - Performing - Learn to play an instrument - Attend music workshops But as always, we will tailor what we do so the individuals get the most out of it. We want to provide support to the individuals to improve their employability. We can advise on starting up own business, point to other volunteering or training opportunities. Referrals can come from PRUs, 16+ need to be unemployed. The pilot course is full, but you can send referrals over for future projects. If you can think of anyone from the area please let them know!
