Received sad news today in an email from Wakefield Press informing me they have no funding available to publish the book I wrote on Siennas story, here is the email: Hi Jewels, I’ve read the first three chapters of your manuscript, ‘Love is all there is’. You’ve captured those early days of motherhood and your emerging anxiety over Sienna’s medical challenges. It’s emotional and touching without ever being mawkish. Unfortunately, Wakefield is not in a position to publish. We have just lost significant government funding and as a result are reducing the number of books we publish (and possibly staff). These are grim times for publishing. We are holding on by our fingernails. I am so sorry that your beautiful Sienna died earlier this year and commend you for being an exceptional mother and recording her life. I am so sorry that Wakefield can’t bring her story to the public, and I wish you good health and a peaceful new year. All the best, Julia Julia Beaven Submissions Editor [email protected] Celebrating 25 years of independent publishing from Adelaide to the world Wakefield Press 16 Rose Street, Mile End, SA 5031, Australia Ph: +61 8 8352 4455 Fax: +61 8 8352 4411 wakefieldpress.au
