Recently, I just saw a post on FB which suggested that fast thinking could improve mood: Lousy day? Don’t try to think happy thoughts—just think fast. A new study shows that accelerated thinking can improve your mood. In six experiments, researchers at Princeton and Harvard universities made research participants think quickly by having them generate as many problem-solving ideas (even bad ones) as possible in 10 minutes... Other participants performed similar tasks at a relaxed speed... Results suggested that thinking fast made participants feel more elated, creative and, to a lesser degree, energetic and powerful. Activities that promote fast thinking, then, such as whipping through an easy crossword puzzle or brain-storming quickly about an idea, can boost energy and mood, says psychologist Emily Pronin, the study’s lead author. This is an overly simplistic, and rather naive, approach to our vibratory nature, in my opinion. Anyone who has spent a considerable amount of time doing conscious meditation knows that this type of thinking is the opposite of mindfulness. Often, our thoughts move very quickly, and many people find themselves over-stimluated by todays technological world. We dont need to speed up, we need to slow down. Many masters have said this... many of those who are aware of lifes vibratory nature have pointed to this... Rather than avoiding our unhappy thoughts by speeding up, we must slow down to inquire what is causing them. We must then consciously and deliberately clean up discordant vibrations (thoughts and emotions) to reap the benefit. Inside ourselves, we have many unwanted thoughts that weve picked up along our physical trail that sit contrary to our natural energy flow. We can call these unwanted thoughts energy blocks, and we can see them as mental trees that stand in our way. If you are travelling at 5mph and hit one of these mental trees, it might give you a bit of a jolt. Yet, if you are travelling at 60mph, it would be a far more jarring experience. We cant just speed up our thoughts, without running into our mental trees. By slowing down, we can become aware of these trees in our pathway, and remove them. If you read the short extract about the study conducted, you will see that it does not have anything to do with speed, in actual fact. It has everything to do with focus. If you are unhappy about a particular issue and you can give your attention, energy and focus to something else, the unwanted unhappy frequencies will become dormant. That is, they will no longer be active in your vibration. However, if you dont clean up your unwanted frequencies, when you return to that very same topic, the unwanted frequencies will again activate.
