Recently, I was told (by someone who apparently doesnt know much about me) that I had a fundamental misunderstanding of warfare and that I had no business to attempt to protect myself or my loved ones in an active shooter situation...because I am a civilian...Thats the soldiers job, says this person. Thats like saying, if youre not a UFC fighter, its morally wrong for you to learn jiu jihtsu. If you are a law-abiding gun owner (civilian or not) then you should be a forever student of warfare and tactics (once you master the fundamentals). I dont pretend to be an operator and this is not some chest pounding, ego building speech, but if youve made the decision to carry a gun for personal defense, then it is YOUR responsibility to train until you get it right and then train till you cant get it wrong. Just because youre a civy doesnt mean you cant be high speed low drag. This article provides a little insight on the subject of civilian training.
