A CTP must earn a total of 36 CTP continuing education credits within a three-year recertification cycle to maintain the CTP credential. Approximately 10% of CTPs are randomly selected for audit at the end of their recertification cycle. Be sure to maintain records documenting qualified credits. Any credits that cannot be verified during the audit process will be disqualified and additional credits will have to be earned. A program agenda or letter signed and dated by the program sponsor is considered acceptable documentation in most cases. Records should be retained for two full years after the completion of each three year cycle.
