Records & Information Management Specialist Job ID #: 432215 Location: IL - Chicago Functional Area: Other Business Operations Department: Records Information Mgmt (IL) Position Type: Full-Time Regular Education Required: Not Indicated Experience Required: Not Indicated Relocation Provided: Posting Expiration Date: Aug 9, 2013 Position Description BASIC FUNCTION: This position reports to HCSC’s Records & Information Management (“RIM”) Director within HCSC’s Legal Division. The candidate would be responsible for assisting HCSC’s four-state Blue Cross Blue Shield Plans with the implementation of policies, procedures, standards, and schedules for the creation, storage, maintenance and disposal of company business records under HCSC’s Enterprise Records Retention Schedule (“ERRS”) and its RIM Program. The candidate would also be responsible for coordination of day-to-day RIM questions from business units and engagement with HCSC’s business RIM Liaisons. The candidate will also assist in developing and providing training for business units and in ensuring that HCSC’s ERRS remains updated to meet business, regulatory and best practices needs. Candidate will also be assisting in HCSC’s RIM compliance efforts and, where necessary, in eDiscovery, Legal Hold and other related functions. JOB REQUIREMENTS: 1) Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years’ experience in an enterprise-wide records management division of a large, complex multistate corporation; 2) Experience in handling business inquiries and assisting business units in understanding and applying records policies and schedules; 3) Experience in training and compliance efforts, as well as in directing strategic initiatives, in an established Records Retention Program; 4) Deep understanding of electronic and physical records management policies, procedures, standards, and best practices with knowledge of records management systems, processes and emerging technologies; 5) Experience working across multiple business environments at all operational levels; 6) Excellent time management and client communication skills; 7) PC proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, SharePoint as well as data base development and management; 8) Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills; 9) Organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills; 10) Ability to work independently and as part of a team. PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS: 1) BS or BA in Records Management; 2) Experience developing, implementing and documenting business processes, including compliance oriented processes; 3) Experience with the health care industry and/or a large, multistate, regulated industry reliant on complex electronic systems and processes (e.g., banking, telecommunications, other insurance). 4) Experience with Atlas, Recommind, SharePoint and Lifecycle Governance tools. 5) Experience researching and maintaining records retention requirements; 6) Experience with eDiscovery and legal hold processes; 8) Affiliation with and active participation in ARMA, AIIM or similar records & information management professional associations.
