Recreation Center Improvements New Basketball Court and Added Parking The Borough is moving forward with re-purposing the old roller hockey rink at the Franklin Lakes Recreation Center. At a recent meeting, the Mayor and Council awarded a $176,790 contract to D&L Paving for this project. In the area formerly occupied by the roller hockey rink, the Borough will construct a new basketball court and will also add some additional parking. The basketball court will include new bleachers, new backboards and a new fence around the court perimeter. The court will be striped to allow it to be used as two half size courts, when desired. It will benefit the Borough’s recreation programs and area residents. There is also room in the area of the former roller hockey rink for some additional parking. It is anticipated that there will be nearly 40 additional parking spaces as the result of this project. This parking is needed, particularly during football games.
