Redskin was a term created by Native Americans to refer to - TopicsExpress

Redskin was a term created by Native Americans to refer to themselves when first interacting with European settlers. Famous explorer John Smith remarked in his journal, when mapping out Virginia, that there was virtually no difference between the European & Native American children, as the Native American children had not applied the dye that their parents used on their faces, cultivated from berries and roots, to dye their skin red. Political correctness and zero-tolerance reponses, in the case of the trademarked Redskins name, have no merit or weight as they ignore historical fact, and reason, and focus on emotional reponses created by imaginary racism - which was created BY THE SUGGESTION that it is racist IN THE FIRST PLACE, when majority of Americans with blood ties to the former tribes deem the term as one that is prideful, and not slightful.
