Reflecting tonight on the death of Robin Williams....a man who brought so much joy and laughter into the lives of millions, yet couldnt gather the courage to fight off his own demons anymore. Depression is an ugly, soul-sucking disease. It creates fear and anxiety even in the most joyous of times. It surrounds its victims in a darkness so intense that no light can survive. It destroys hope, crushes dreams, and demolishes any sense of normalcy. So many hide behind the facade of a smile because thats the only thing they have the strength to do. The majority of you will have a glimpse or two of how profound depression can be at some point in your lives. Imagine living that way day in, day out. Imagine even as youre sitting on top of wealth and fame and adoration, you feel completely alone and destitute. No matter what you try, you cant stop the pain...until you are left with the one last and final attempt at peace. Just because someone doesnt show the obvious signs doesnt mean theyre not hurting, whether it be physically, mentally or spiritually. Please take the time to listen...not just with your ears, but your heart and mind. The clues are there, and we must take it upon ourselves to surround those who need it most with love and support. I pray for the Williams family....and the families of everyone who have lost someone to suicide. Robins final act didnt stop the pain. It only transferred and multiplied it to each and every person that loved him. May the peace he sought be bestowed on those he left behind.... #RIPRobin
