Regarding WORLD WIDE LIVE continued from last week.... its PICTURED LIFE: VINTAGE THURSDAY Okay my peeps, so the band started a massive North American tour on March 17th, 1984. (30 years ago) They started with Jon Butcher Axis supporting. Then in July, Jon Bon Jovi took over as supporting act. When they did several dates in California, that made up a large share of the albums material. Pretty soon, the band ended up in Chicago in May. Which makes a pretty good story....while Cleveland may have been the first city to SEE Scorpions, it was actually Chicago who first HEARD the band. According to Klaus; when Lonesome Crow debuted in 1971, somehow it was heard of and picked up by a small Chicago-based label called Billingsgate. So a cult following was started from that. When Scorps came over to the States for the first time in 1979, they were set to play Chicago Fest, a huge party on Lake Michigan. There were lots of bands that played and Scorpions performed on a platform stretching out over the water. Per Klaus, there were about 10,000 people watching and there was so much pushing, lots of fans ended up falling into the water. It was very crazy. Klaus says.
