Rehman Malik concerned about Balochistan situation KARACHI: Former interior minister, Senator Rehman Malik, said it has not even been 15 days that the new government has taken the helm and, therefore, it would be unjustified to pin unrealistic expectations to it. “A capable and visionary man has taken charge of the Interior Ministry and he should be given an opportunity to prove his mettle,” Rehman Malik said in a statement here. He stressed that it was a high time that a joint effort was made to counter terrorists. Malik praised the role played by the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) and Military Intelligence (MI) in Balochistan. “Whatever instructions were issued to these agencies, they made sure to implement the same,” he added. He said the Frontier Constabulary (FC) was put under the provincial government in Balochistan, in line with its people’s demand. To a question, he said he would be glad if Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) decided to join the Sindh government. However, he added, that even if it (MQM) sits on opposition benches it would still be part of democracy.
