Here is a billboard ad with Mary and Tommy many years ago after she was diagnosed with colon cancer, and she luckily won that battle through early detection and with the help of a great medical team. However, our family was not so lucky in 1995, when her sister Melinda (a wonderful and irreplaceable mother, daughter, sister, friend and aunt) finally succumbed to brain cancer after being in remission for many years; and, then, her father, Donald R. Williams (not only a great father, grandfather, husband, and father-in-law-but also a World War II veteran who served in the Army), who left us in 2009 after a difficult but valiant fight against cancer. The proximity of cancer to our lives has always been too close, so every year the Wassell and Williams families have worked hard to remember them and help fight this dreaded disease. Most families have been affected by this disease, be it a loved one, a friend, or someone you know. So we ask you to help, donate if you can, volunteer, and just as important, go to your Doctor and get the routine screenings that can save your life. Every helping hand is needed in this fight!
