Released today in 1968: The soundtrack to one of the most jaw-dropping career suicides of all-time, The Monkees Head, a surrealistic nightmare about the hell of being The Monkees. Head manages to out-weird The Beatles movies while secretly kickstarting the careers of director Bob Rafelson (who would later direct Five Easy Pieces and the brilliant The King Of Marvin Gardens), and writer Jack Nicholson, whom you might have heard of once or twice.
