Remember this next time you vote, people. The timeline goes thus: 2010 - land purchased by ALP government to build Cairns second hospital. This was part of the deal to sell the airport, and use the funds from this to upgrade Cairns hospital and build a second hospital south of Cairns. 2011 - patients evacuated from Cairns hospital as a security measure during Cyclone Yasi. Calls for second Cairns Hospital to be built in a flood proof area (which the purchased land is) 2012 - LNP elected in a landslide. 2012 - 2014 efficiency measures deliver Cairns Base Hospital a new name, experienced -staff losses, a board, losses of doctors due to unacceptable contracts, a decision by the board that feels they know what Cairns is going to look like in the future......and a decision to sell the land earmarked for a second hospital to swell Brisbanes coffers. NOT Cairns, BRISBANE! So remember people of Mulgrave when you vote, ALP takes steps to build you a hospital. LNP takes steps to sell that land to help Brisbane.
