Remembering and saluting the brave soldiers of Second Freedom - TopicsExpress

Remembering and saluting the brave soldiers of Second Freedom Movement led by Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan. On this day in 1975 (25/26 June 1975 midnight), Prime Minister Indira Gandhi declared Emergency and arrested all the senior political leaders. Press Censorship was imposed. When the media was asked to bend, many of our national media (who now claim to be the champions of press freedom) crawled during emergency. Indian Express and Thuglak bodly opposed emergency, in spite of all challenges. Indian Express published blank editorial columns and conveyed strong messages to their readers, bypassing the censorship. (See the photoshot in the article) Many youngsters do not know the darker side of Indian democracy during emergency. Today, we need to remember the great soldiers of Second Freedom movement. Please read my 3 Part article in my blog, giving the full details of the darker days of India (1975-77) with rare pictures. Please also share this.
