Reminder all the AGM is Monday 26th May. Presidents Message To all the members of the Boronia Cricket Club, I thank you very much for the opportunity to lead our great club again. I have had the pleasure to be on our executive committee for over ten plus seasons and represent you as the president for four seasons. It has been a great honour and something I will miss dearly. The club is in an interesting phase; the next generation must step up and take our club in an exciting new direction. The young leaders at our club have grown over the last few years. With our appointment of Stephen Bowen as coach, we have seen Josh Ingram, Dave Carman, Sam Newell, Ash Jayasinghe, and many more showing their strength on the field combined with Matt Smyth, Yohan Jayasinghe, Rob Phillips, Darcy Brown all showing leadership in administration and coaching areas while continuing to play excellent cricket themselves. We need to challenge these members to stand up and take us forward. Sooooooo many members have approached me over the season to offer advice on the direction of all aspects of the future of the club. It shows that these members love the hawk and our nest, but we now need these members to stand up and make a difference and put their hand high in the air & run a raffle, coach a junior side, help at Milo, do a shift in the bar, find a sponsor, help at a social function, empty a few bins, run a training session, coach each other, run the joker poker, input match reports, and so on the list goes.....We are a community club that pays one player, has limited sponsors, small social functions all run by a tight knit group who love the club. Please be a member that may give back and support your mates on and off the field!! We are financially happy, compared to my previous administrations, but always looking for more ways to turnover some coin and pay the bills a little easier.....I thank Aaron Blanchfield who busted his backside creating 5+ sponsors for the Hawker. Last season we only raised $900 in sponsors, this year over $2500...Great effort by too few... But great effort all the same. I thank the members who contributed, your support is invaluable. One Major Event is probably the best way to run our social calendar....instead of having 5-6 events relying on members every month to raise more $$$. Matt Smyth has continued to be a great leader in this area and I feel his pain when only minimal members attend his wonderfully run nights...Matt, Thank you very much for your hard work, Im sure you will continue to be a hard working volunteer for the Mighty Hawk! Love your work mate!! To the members that attended regularly, thank you!! Moreover, there are so many great people within our club who volunteer their time year in year out. I thank John Blennerhassett as the greatest of support to me throughout the season. a trusted and loyal sounding board. JB has the great ability to offer all aspects of any situation, usually with great vigour! As a colleague and a friend, Thanks for everything mate. Chris Phillips, Lee Blennerhassett, Phil Moody, Neil Fogarty, John Eccles, Debbie Eccles, Gary Collier, Mark Harris, and Yohan Jayasinghe, all have done outstanding work for our club, offering their time to ensure the club runs smoothly and that all members from age 5 to 50+ are taken care of!! The Hawker thanks you! All these ably complemented by our captains that have represented and led our club wonderfully. Thank you very much to Stephen Bowen, Craig Begg, Gary Collier, John Blennerhassett, Dan Kable and Pete Godwin for giving up many of your precious spare hours to lead our teams accordingly. Plus to all our junior coaches and coordinators, your support is invaluable! In Closing, I say good bye with a very heavy heart as my life moves in a different direction up north. I will always be following the exploits of the Hawk and look forward to many more danglers in the future. Take Care My Friends I’ll miss you all!! Crawls XO
