Renowned ballroom dancer Pierre Dulaine brings his dance classes - TopicsExpress

Renowned ballroom dancer Pierre Dulaine brings his dance classes to the ethnically mixed schools of Jaffa, pairing 11-year-old Palestinians and Jews, putting many of the children’s and their families’ beliefs to the test. Dancing In Jaffa revolves around training for a citywide dance competition that would require the children, some of whom are forbidden to dance together by religious doctrine, to partner and perform. As Dulaine wins over his reluctant students, the awkward cross-cultural pairings grow into meaningful relationships that quickly take on a significance beyond the dance floor. This sweet and poignant tale of discipline, growth, and connection is filled with moments of both truth and humor, struggles and successes, and offers a glimmer of hope in the midst of ongoing political conflict. Screenings this week at O Cinema Miami Shores from April 17th - 20th. o-cinema.org/event/dancing-in-jaffa/
