Schedule patient appointments in conjunction with orders and urgency of care. Use expert questioning techniques to determine how requests should be scheduled, when to refer calls to a specific clinic or the Physician Referral Coordinator or escalate calls to a nurse for immediate attention. Apply the open access concept for patient scheduling and ensure that patient and physician needs are met on a daily basis. EPIC REGISTRATION accurately pre-register patients for appointments and tests. Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information. MANAGED CARE Understand and identify insurance types. Validate contract status of insurance with physicians and facility to ensure maximum reimbursement and correct payment. Verify insurance information for each patient appointment. Review accuracy and makes appropriate changes as needed. Remind patient of any financial obligations and documents appropriately. Remind patients to obtain necessary referral forms and/or additional documentation and bring to clinic/ancillary department to ensure highest allowable reimbursement. Assists with development and implementation of manual back-up systems to be used during computer down time. Learn new systems as required in scope of the job. Demonstrate a commitment to quality improvement and excellence. Problems are solved through critical evaluation of data based information and continuous improvement efforts that lead to effective quality-based outcomes. Incumbent is expected to be able to accurately identify and diagnose an issue, identify alternatives, implement a plan, evaluate and communicate results. Work consists of various duties involving different processes and methods. Factors to be considered differ with each assignment, and elements of the work must be identified and analyzed to determine appropriate action. (Ex. Manager, RN, Physical Therapist, Admin Asst, Supervisors, Medical Records Tech) Work has moderate impact on a specific area. Substantial impact on student or patient well-being, comfort or convenience. (Ex.
