Report on the Phillips ecosystem: Saw a teeny-weeny salamander - TopicsExpress

Report on the Phillips ecosystem: Saw a teeny-weeny salamander swimming around in the dog dish last night. It was so small (about 2.25 inches long and .25-.33 inches wide), I was afraid it wouldnt be able to get out by itself; so I found another smooth fossil rock from our collection and put it under fossil shell. With the two rocks one atop of the other in the dog dish/pool even the littlest salamander could up them after a leisurely swim, and stretch its little body up over the walls of the dog dish to get out. On my second trip outside to check on the little swimmer, .I saw another one the same size -- presumably the first guys brother or sister. Luckily, the little swimmer was out of its dog dish, swimming pool in the morning. Guess the second rock did the trick.
