Reposted from a previous thread recently taken down; There was a committed time line from Chief and Council to have this land claim settled; this in my opinion was a big mistake, because here we are well beyond the suggested time frame with many members including myself questioning whats happening. With no (absolutely no recent communication) from this chief and council regarding the status of this claim membership is left in a position of speculating and questioning....... Yet another mistake or lacking of responsibility for those entrusted to communicate with membership! I do support annual distribution of the capital trust interest dollars, Ive stated this time and time again as well I support distribution of current and future land claims; my stand to this is based on the fact that there is now 85 million locked away for future generations, yet nothing being given back to membership today. An annual per capita distribution would ensure ALL members alive today and day of distribution be invested in personally. We also need to remember that the 85 million is locked away and is bound by an iron clad trust agreement which can not be broken without penalty (huge penalty) likely a huge percentage of monies in trust lost (thats even if its possible to break trust) as a voting band member I could not support any move that would cost our members today or tomorrow millions of dollars........ So although I do support interest dollars/ current claims/ and future claim distribution, I do not support a move against the 85 million dollar capital trust!
