Many in industry thought he had gone nuts! But the success of the auto industry created a need for thousands of miles, tens of thousands of miles, of paved streets and roads -- work for countless construction workers. Oh, and BTW, now Ford workers, with higher pay and time payments, could actually buy a Model T (good car and inexpensive for the time).
