Researching your client’s line of work important for logo design - Do not think that as a logo designer you already have too much information, which may come from your clients design brief and other sources. When you are designing an identity for a clients products or services you are unlikely to be familiar with them. This is the main reason that the designers must research the products or services and more about the company and business before starting work on the design. What is your clients line of work? You must rely only on your intense research to answer this question to your satisfaction. The client may not be telling you all which means that lack of information will restrict your creativity. But that does not mean that you have to learn all the little detail about the company and the products it offers. All you need to ensure is that you have greater understanding of your clients business so that you have more relevant ideas to design the logo. If you do not have time to visit a library to do the research, you can always explore the internet. You can easily have plenty of information about the business of your client. If still you need to answer some questions, get in touch with the client for more information. When researching, make sure that you get information about what is the history of the services or products offered by your client. Answer to this question is helpful in knowing about the design elements and ideas that the customers or viewers can relate to. Ask what does the service or products involve and also know about what production methods, if any, are used by the manufacturer. You are likely to get more ideas as you involve yourself in the research and the ideas are what every serious designer looks for while designing a logo.
