#RestoreNinevehNow The #Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has now embarked on the establishment of a Christian Batalion as part of the #Kurdish militia known as the Peshmerga. In my opinion this latest move is to counter balance our efforts to establish the independent #Assyrian Defence units, since until recently Christians were not permited to join the #Kurdish militia. This way the #Iraqi #Kurdistan Regional Government can lay claim to any financial assistance the USA and the west might offer to help the #Assyrian Defence units and at the same time lay claim to our lands in the #Nineveh Plain. #KRG has taken similar steps in the past to oppose our efforts, such as the formation and funding of political organizations like Majlis Al-Shaabi and others, the establishment of media outlests such as Ishtar TV to oppose #Ashur TV and promoting and funding groups in the US from within our communities to lobby on their behalf in DC.
