Rewriting the Script, Rules & Status-quo! One of my favourite pastimes is watching cartoons. The fact they are made for kids means they do not follow conventional knowledge, in animation people and animals are equal, they talk, live & play together. Recently my daughter & I are busy repeating Smurfs 2, one of the soundtracks became a morning anthem, as I listened to it I found some intriguing lines, the song is by Owl City – Live it Up, the lyrics which caught my attention go thus, “Were gonna blow up because weve got nothing to lose, Were gonna rise up above when weve break all the rules, Were gonna re-write the book cause it’s long over-due, Tear up the script this is in cause it’s all up to you”. Now that is profound, how many rules do we live by that were made in 1890s? How many scripts do we follow that are long outdated? But simply because our great grandfathers went through them, we accept that this is what it is? How many such scripts do we bother to question or check if they really mean what they say? The results are contrary but we have been blinded by the urge to conform. I like Steve Jobs’s speech “Think Different”; I belong to those “crazy ones, the misfits, the troublemakers, the ones who see things differently”. I chose to rewrite the script, to change the status-quo & bend the rules for the better, it’s long overdue. There is an adage that says “change is constant”, if this is true then why is status-quo stagnant, rules out-dated & scripts unrevised for centuries? Buckle up people, it is time to think differently and I am glad I have met some people crazy enough to believe, act and be the next genius for humanity. Remember Christ in us is the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27), I go further to say “Christ in us is the opportunity to live gloriously because hope unrealised remains a dream”. According to Proverbs 13:12 if hope remains hope it becomes wearisome, but when realised it is a tree of life.
