Romans 7:15 For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not - TopicsExpress

Romans 7:15 For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. The apostle Paul, the theologian of the early church, the author of thirteen biblical books, a hero of the early faith, and a man who still struggled, still wavered, still found himself addicted to that which he hated. Often, we look at those who lead, especially leaders of churches and ministries, as superhuman. But there is something damaged and twisted in the heart of all of us, something that still rebels against God and His ways. That brokenness or twisted drive is sin, a force that pushes all of us toward destructive habits and compels all of us to do that which we hate. The mark of a follower of Jesus, of one who lives Second, is not perfection (though that will come in the end); it is the fight, the struggle to turn the tides of our desires towards the Maker of our souls. I Am Second
