Ronda Rousey: always protecting her brand UFC Womens Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey is walking, marketing machine. She is wise behind her years and has taken her own personal brand to heights never before seen in womens MMA. One of the key attributes she has, is the ability to always be in the moment, and understand when, and where a certain move must be made to enhance the equity in her brand. While recently speaking with the media, the topic of stare downs came up and sometimes the dangers involved when fighters meet eye to eye, nose to nose, for fans and media to consume. There is an inherent danger during this moment in time, where the slightest move can spark a brawl. The blink of an eye can be a sign of weakness. The psychological warfare can be crippling or can be a trigger that could set off an explosion. Not so much for Rousey. I try not to manifest situations that wouldnt work out well for me because it doesnt look good for the sport, doesnt look good for me personally, and I think the benefits of that are very short term and I try to think of the longer big picture most of the time. Its this ability to prevent a fire, as opposed to fighting the fire, which along with many other attributes, that has given Rousey the fame and fortune she enjoys today. For her, there is always a time, and a place. I get paid to fight on (Saturday). Before that it only costs me money. And thats not being frugal.
