To the students and parents of Mrs. LaRita Stewarts and Mrs. Stacey Vondrak Carnells 5th grade class and Mrs. Lindsay Burrell, Wow! Thats all I can say! Weve known that you are a very very special group of kids for quite some time, but today, you reminded us of the importance of the human spirit. Today, my son had to give his student council speech, something that is very very difficult for a young man with significant learning difficulties. And, today, his class voted him as their class representative for the student council. (yep, Im bawling). I know there were other kids who ran today and didnt get elected and we are sorry. We, too, had prepared him to not win and the lessons that come with it. But, today is a day where our son - just for a moment - can experience an opportunity other kids his age can be a part of. Im beyond humbled by the generosity, kindness, and compassion of the entire 5th grade class. You have know idea the tremendous impact all of you have made on that little boys life - today and every day. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to you and your parents for learning, sharing and role-modeling today. Youll be held up as an example for as long as we know you. Thank you....
