Round 5 sports wrap Hat Tricks and 5 for Galore Taking 5 wickets doesn’t happen all that often but for Bonny Hills this weekend the feat has occurred twice. Lake Cathie Taverners 2nd grade won the toss and batted 1st against Port Panther Pirates at Inmon Oval . After losing an early wicket Pete Morris (29)and Phil Crouch (41) put on 61 whilst Twinkle Toes Bennison (33) hit some lusty blows and Scott Selway (23) was solid again whilst Alan Pretty (31) put on a 41 run last wicket partnership with Mitch Thomson (30no) to boost the score to 210 . Pirates started well before losing the 1st at 48 when Pete (1/12 off 8) and Adam Morris (2/26 off 8) slowed the pace with 2 more with the score on 52. A 56 run partnership had Pirates back in the game before a shrewd bowling change by Captain Crouch (1/12) brought Club President Pretty on snaring not only figures of 5/24 but a Hat Trick as well to roll them for 163 and leave them top of the table Bonny Hills Painters 3rd Grade took on the top team PPP Buccaneers at Kendall who batted first. After getting some early success from Patrick Moulds (2/48) and an unlucky Nic Clarke (1/46) Nathan Cameron Hancock bowled the spell of his life to take 5/44 whilst just missing a hatrick as well. A solid finish by Pirates and late wickets by Trevor Hart (1/36) and Ben Gleeson (1/12) and solid bowling by father Sean Gleeson (0/17) had them out for 230. Solid starts by Graeme Clarke (20) and Capt Hart (17) where followed by the Gleesons Ben (2), Sean (6) before bowling hero Nathan held up an end whilst fellow youngster Brandon Hodges (18) hoisted 2 fours and a lusty 6 before being caught at drinks break. Kobe Smith (14) showed great poise and batted for 12 overs before falling with Scott Moulds (16no) left with the score at 122. With more father sons on show in Bonny Hills Stylers 4th Grade game against PPP Rum Runners, young Matt McDonald Kearns 2 wickets was just pipped by dad Mick Kearns with 3 whilst young Laine Parker was also exceptional with 2 and Peter Hollins taking the rest with 2 to roll the top team for 124 in 28 overs whilst 2 men down. Opener and top scorer Harry Harris 45 was outstanding with the bat, whilst the rest contributed but without the full complement fell short by a mere 8 runs of a great win at 8/116. A depleted Seahorses 4ths took on PPP Sea Dogs who made 231. Josh Godwin (4/51 off 8) with his dad Darren (0/15 of 5) combining well with Donovan Roberts (2/52) and Craig Stayman (3/40) for the other wickets. A fall of early wickets had the score 4/34 before Josh (5) and Darren (25) settle down to mini revival before the final wickets fell in the 26 over leaving them short of the target. Keep up the good work boys (and dads) and lets get a full team on the ground this week.
