As the national limelight was more focus on typhoon Maring and the Napoles pork barrel scam, this tragedy in si many human lives off the coast of Cordova Cebu should not just fade as another story to be forgotten very soon. Not just because of the sheer number of deaths but because it has serious and long-term implications to the livelihood of the many coastal communities in Cordova, many of whom are very poor. Support should be given to Mayor Sitoy and his local government to ensure that the case they intend to file be pursued and 2Go and Sulpicio Lines are both made accountable; first and foremost to those who lost their lives and secondly to the many more who will loose their livelihood. A clean up and rehabilitation of the ecosystem affected must also be done.
