Running against Republican Congressman Darrell Issa has got to be one of the most thankless jobs on the planet. The 49th Congressional District, encompassing northern San Diego County and a bit Orange County, is solidly Republican. Issa is a celebrity candidate, managing to keep a high profile via his Chairmanship of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. Longtime North County resident and Democrat Dave Peiser is challenging Issa. Yesterday he got his own bit of celebrity boost.
