Running late again. Monday 1.Apologies to those who feel the use of ivory is abhorrent but I have a bracelet that was given to me a few days after Maryas birth by the local chief in Zambia. It was NOT a poached elephant but the tusks of one that had been found dead within his tribal area and was therefore his property! He put it on my wrist over 43 years ago. It was removed maybe twice in the past as it was always tight- and as I got older- and larger- it has not moved in nearly 40 years. Many people remember me by my bracelet! I had tried to get it removed and made into a bangle but all of the jewellers I had approached were reluctant to cut it (in case they cut my wrist?) Eventually I asked the surgeon to cut it off when I had my last hip replacement (my 6th!). Since then I have tried to have a bangle made, being quoted prices between £4- 800 ! It became a mission and I was nearly ready to pay anything when I heard of a jeweller in Liscard, from a couple of different people. I took it over in July and though it took some time- it was ready to be picked up. This I did on Monday- and the price £85. I am thrilled and it is just as I envisioned. pic to follow. 2, Being over the water in Wirral we took the opportunity to see my newly slim line little cousin -Peter and his lovely partner Tilly! Not forgetting Spartan - the very large dog. 3.Finished the evening with an uncharcteristic evening shopping trip to Tescos where I found the sweater I had been looking for for weeks- and was able to pay for it with Tesco reward tokens- so not only was it half price ( your tokens are worth twice their face value) but the tokens are given free every 3 months dependent on your shopping. So it cost me nothing. A very satisfactory day!
