#SAAAlert #AcidAttack in SURAT: Police arrested three accused on Saturday for the acid attack that killed a woman while four of her family suffered injuries in Salabatpura area of the city. Police arrested Aslam Mohammad Salim Shaikh and his two minor friends for allegedly attacking the family of Ramu Rathod of Umarwada locality. Rathods wife Hemu died of severe burn injuries due to acid while his mother Kaushalya and children Raj and Prem suffered injuries. All the injured are admitted to Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education and Research (SMIMER). The family was asleep when the accused attacked them after forcibly entering their residence during early hours of Friday. Police investigation revealed that Shaikh had an illicit relationship with Hemu which the latter discontinued when her family came to know. Shaikh was pressurizing her to continue relations with him. Sources said it was in order to teach her a lesson that he planned the attack. The accused stole he acid from vehicle batteries and kept it in small plastic containers. The accused have been arrested and will be produced in court.
