SATURDAY, January 25 The Conversion of Saint Paul the Apostle Galatians 1:24. And they glorified God because of me. A musician friend once told me that the role of an artist is to work so diligently at crafting his or her art that when it is performed or presented it appears effortless. And though onlookers should not see the effort of the artist in it, the rendering should be so fully and truthfully an expression of the artist that they cannot see the work of art without seeing the artist in it. The art we see and enjoy and experience, however, is most often the result of long hours spent by the artist in seclusion with, and sometimes agonizing with, a piece in order to give life and expression to what was once simply an idea. We are God’s masterpieces in the making, being shaped into what God has imagined, by the experiences provided for us. As we surrender to this shaping, by reading and studying and allowing God’s love to live through us in the world, people around us will see more of God and less of us.
