SCAM Facebook Scam: {OPPs Time} Big Spiders comes out of the guys leg The “Big Spiders comes out of the guys leg” Facebook scam has been around for a while. It is also known as the Spider Bite scam. This scam spams an edited image of a man’s leg that has a large spider bite on it in hopes to click-bait user into clicking malicious links. Once a link is clicked a user’s Facebook profile may become hijacked and the culprits can then spam the image on the user’s behalf. Provided links may also infect a computer with malware or direct users to survey websites used to collect manually submitted information such as email addresses, home addresses, and more. Victims of this scam may also be directed to a fake Facebook log in page used to collect Facebook email addresses and passwords; However, it is more likely that a simple click can instigate a prominent attack capable of collecting this information without manual user submission. There is no “Big Spiders comes out of the guys leg” video. The image is fake, it has been doctored by photo editing software, such as Adobe PhotoShop to appear realistic. If you see this post posted by a friend on your Facebook news feed it is likely that your friend was duped by this scam and if you see this post published on your own account it is likely that your Facebook account was hacked.
