. SCOPE: · Prepare operational planning and direct the shift operations of an assigned power plant in order that power generation requirements are met through the most effective and efficient means . · Operate and direct the operation of steam power plant equipment and adjustments to operating conditions of plant and equipment to facilitate effective and efficient power generation . · Oversee and undertake inspection tours of assigned plant area to determine performance levels and authorizes necessary changes to achieve optimum operating conditions . · Monitor equipment operation to determine reliability, to identify actual and potential faulty operations, investigate incidents of faulty operation to determine causes and reports to the maintenance function for follow-up action . · Act as source of technical expertise and assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting complex problems in assigned area in order to obtain desired result and develop operators’ capabilities. · Act as post/site commander in emergency situations in order to provide leadership in first-line containment response. Participate as an investigation team member to determine causes and arrive at recommendations for remedial action. · Oversee and participate in shift handover/takeover with counterpart in order to give/receive advice on current operating conditions and issues of relevance. · Ensure all safety regulations and practices, craft standards and company procedures are complied with . · Assist in the maintaining of safety programs in order to promote greater safety awareness and achieve accident-free operations . · Conduct safety meeting with his crew. · Ensure that the worksite is kept in a clean and orderly state in order that work can be carried out more efficiently. · Track performance in assigned area to ensure deadlines are met and that completed work meets set standards . · Prepare reports on fieldwork progress for consideration by supervisor . · Assist in the Planning and Scheduling activities for the Operation. · Coordinate, direct and report the work of his crew for all the assigned jobs. Interfaces with internal and external areas in order to co-ordinate activities related to variations in power generation loads, fuel supply and government requirements. · Provide work direction and coordinate the activities of Plant Operators in start-up, shut down and other major operational changes and makes adjustments to optimize operation . Liaise with operators and Maintenance staff carrying out preventive maintenance activities to ensure awareness of the operational status of the plant and associated equipment and to ensure that no operating action is taken which might impair their safety. · Check work standards of crew, review written reports of work performed. Provide training to lower level Power Plant Operators. · Monitor and supervise On-the-Job Saudi trainees in the field. Assist with OJT program by monitoring progress of assigned trainees. Give assigned trainees necessary job explanation and instructions to support the OJT program. · Carry out other related duties as assigned .Motivates, develops, trains and appraises own staff in order to achieve improved performance and meet individual development targets . · Keep up to date with technical advances in his related field for necessary implementation . · Coach and mentor other Power Plant Operators to ensure their knowledge and skills are being developed to meet the required performance level of job.
