SCS plans to hand over the keys to the suburban school buildings June 1, but the new municipal districts dont start new budgets for another month. The suburbs agreed to pick up power and insurance costs early, but can’t afford to pay the salaries of the principals and counselors. While both sides promise to figure it out, staff are still worried, and not just about pay. One school counselor told us via email, “This is especially upsetting and disruptive to high school guidance counselors who utilize the next two weeks to close out records.”
