SE Hennepin Avenue vapor project update September 9 Superfund 101 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Learn about the history of Superfund legislation and how State and Federal agencies use these laws to clean up polluted sites. Location: Van Cleve Recreation Center (901 15th Ave SE, Minneapolis) October 28 Remediation options open house 5:30 - 7 p.m. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is sponsoring an open house by an independent environmental consulting firm, to present information on a variety of soil and groundwater cleanup methods. During this event you can learn more about potential clean up options for the TCE contamination. There will be stations presenting information about various methods with an opportunity to ask questions. No formal presentation will be made. Location: Van Cleve Recreation Center (901 15th Ave SE, Minneapolis) Project update - Mitigation area defined An area has been defined using test results from individual homes. All homes in this defined area will be offered a mitigation system. Mitigation is offered whether or not the system is actually needed based on sampling results. For a more detailed look at the area, visit pca.state.mn.us/6xpy6yp Additional sampling in the northeast and southeast - Emerging from the sampling work is a pattern of contamination that shows not all the contamination is coming from the former General Mills property. Likely there are other contaminated sites mainly northeast of the former General Mills property that are contributing to the contamination. The MPCA is doing the home testing and mitigating in areas that may be impacted by contamination that is not likely from General Mills.
