Genesis 16:4, NKJV Sarai’s continued childlessness affected her faith in God to the point that she made an arrangement that turned out to be a painful regret. The outcome brought pain to Sarai and turned out to be a source of a harrowing experience for the human race. Sarai was threatened by two things: (a) her long standing childlessness; (b) Hagar’s insubordination following her pregnancy. The two issues are enough to intimidate any woman even today. Sarai knew her marriage of many years was under serious threat not because of Hagar’s pregnancy but because of Hagar’s sudden rudeness. No matter the urgency of our need and pressure on us, we should learn to do things right. We should willingly allow God work on us to fashion out the best out of our lives. This may take time. Learn to wait in prayer, do not take any matter into your hand or interfere with what God will do concerning your need and desire (Philippians 4:6-7). His plans and purposes for you shall never fail.
