SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for DAMAGING WIND and HEAVY RAINFALL - For people in the Capricornia and parts of the Gulf Country, Northwest, Central Highlands and Coalfields and Wide Bay and Burnett Forecast Districts. - Issued at 9:16 pm Sunday, 25 January 2015. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds over the next several hours in parts of the Gulf Country and Northwest districts. Locations which may be affected include Kamilaroi Station, Augustus Downs Station, Donors Hill Station, Gregory Downs Station, Iffley and Lawn Hill. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in the Capricornia and parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields and Wide Bay and Burnett districts. Locations which may be affected include Gladstone, Rockhampton, Biloela, Yeppoon, Moranbah and Marlborough. Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Northern Tropical Coast and Tablelands and Southeast Coast districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED. A wind gust of 85 km/h was recorded late this afternoon at Cloncurry. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. The next warning is due to be issued by 12:20 am Monday. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureaus website at bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 219. The Bureau and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
