SLOVENIA IN 2012 14378 SLOVENIAN CITIZENS LEFT TO WORK ABROAD AND 15022 FOREIGN CITIZENS ENTERED TO LIVE AND WORK IN THE COUNTRY FOR THE LAST 13 YEARS MORE SLOVENIAN ARE LEAVING THEN FOREIGNERS COMING IN MEANS NEGATIVE NET MIGRATION In 2012, 15,022 people immigrated to Slovenia and 14,378 emigrated from it. Compared to 2011, the migration changes in 2012 were stronger: immigration was higher by 6.7% and emigration by 19.6%. Net migration (644 persons) was in 2012 almost a third lower than in 2011. Net migration of citizens of Slovenia negative again For the thirteenth consecutive year negative net migration of citizens of Slovenia was recorded: in 2012, 5,450 citizens of Slovenia more left the country than returned to it. On the other hand, net migration of foreign nationals was positive for the fourteenth year in a row: in 2012, 6,094 more of them immigrated to Slovenia than emigrated from it. Four out of five immigrants with foreign citizenship In 2012, 15,022 people immigrated to Slovenia: 2,741 citizens of Slovenia and 12,281 foreigners, which means that four out of five immigrants were foreign nationals. Most of them were citizens of one of the countries of former Yugoslavia (73.4%), followed by citizens of the EU-27 Member States (17.7%). In 2012 on average 90% of foreigners immigrated to Slovenia from the country of their citizenship. More than half of Slovenian immigrants from the EU-27 Member States Slightly more than half (53.0%) of Slovenian immigrants in 2012 came from one of the EU-27 Member States. The majority of them returned from Germany, Austria and Italy. 28.2% of Slovenian immigrants came back from one of the countries of former Yugoslavia, most of them from Croatia
