SMD January 12, 1933 ROVER: Wade Vanalvin is helping Hade Trantham dig a cistern this week. Grance Moore had the misfortune of getting her ankle sprained Friday while playing at school. Velma Andrews spent Thursday night with Opal and Susia Andrews at Thomasville. Bill Huddleston and Joe Dooley were through this community the first of the week collecting donations to finish the construction of the new Parsonage for Rev. Fowler at Rover. Louis Redburn spent Saturday night at the Lake Green home at Thomasville. Otto Moore, W.E. Smoot, Bud Judd and Louie Redburn called at the Charley Moore home Sunday. Charley and Clarence Moore took a load hogs to the woods Saturday. The Birthday Dinner at the home of Will Redburn Sunday was well attended. Othel Murphy and Red Overstreet called on Otto Moore Saturday morning. Louie Redburn is working for Mack Redburn this week. CAVE SPRINGS: Rev. Elza Simpson filled his regular appointment here Saturday night and Sunday. Misses Afton Looney and Lillian Huddleston visited Thursday night with Una Stogsdill. Mr. and Mrs. Noah Tucker of Couch visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Barton. Mrs. W. G. Norman has been ill the past two weeks. Elza Simpson visited Saturday night at the Dale Archer home. Mr. Leo Hackworth visited Thursday night with Jennings Stogsdill. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Fannings and son and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Andrews visited Sunday at the Lynn Fannings home. Miss Bess Sconce of Alton spent Thursday night with home folks. Mr. Paul Custer visited the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Haston Dethrow at Piney. Miss Media Lee Boze visited Sunday with Miss Una Stogsdill. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Baker visited last Friday with Mrs. W. C. Norman. MANY SPRINGS: Quite a bit of moving in this community last week: John Williams moved over on Dan Williams place, Alex Sisco moved from Dan’s place to where Oscar Hensley lived and Oscar moved somewhere down by Jobe. Mr. Curtner moved from Steele, Missouri into the property that John Williams vacated, which Mr. Curtner has purchased and has put up a nice new building for a general merchandise and filling station. We are glad to welcome these fine people into our community. Mr. and Mrs. Burl Johnson visited with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Green Blankenship Sunday evening. R.L. Cotham and wife spent Sunday night at her fathers, J.M. Johnson, who is real poorly. Ambrose Harriell and wife attended Sunday School and spent the day Sunday at the J.R. Trimble home. Mrs. Soper visited Mrs. Cotham last Friday afternoon. Babe Forester, wife and two little sons visited at the W.I. Cotham home Sunday evening. Sunday School every Sunday; everybody invited to come, especially next Sunday as there will be important business to dispose of. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Lowry visited at Claud Harder’s Sunday. Mrs. Ora Johnson visited Mrs. Cotham Friday morning. Miss Ava Johnson spent Sunday with Misses Blanche and Eugenia Lowry. Miss Tressia Woods spent Sunday with her sister, Mrs. Wellie Johnson. Mrs. Wilson Ford and son Paris and Mrs. Edith Rollins and small daughter, Josephine of St. Louis visited Monday at the W.I. Cotham home. Mrs. Mildred Taylor visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Edwards one day last week. John Woods has been on the sick list the past week. Mrs. Edith Rollins and daughter left for their home in St. Louis after spending Christmas with her parents and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Ford. SMD January 26, 1933 MANY SPRINGS: Rev. James Shields preached at this place Saturday night and Sunday night. His regular appointment will be Saturday night before the 3rd Sunday. Sunday and Sunday nights of each month. Everyone is invited. T.B. Johnson and wife spent Sunday at the Claud Blankenship home. Rev. Shields had dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Troy Dixon Sunday. J.R. Trimble and wife spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Curtner. Mrs. Ora Johnson and Mrs. Floy Blankenship spent Sunday afternoon with Mrs. Ford and Miss Media Archer. Mrs. Emma Lowry and Mrs. Martha Harder have been on the sick list for a few days. Mrs. Canzada Johnson and Ava at the Wellie Johnson home. Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Simmons attended the chicken demonstration at the J.R. Trimble home Friday. Misses Susie Forster and Hilda Plumley spent Sunday afternoon at the Wayne Forester home. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Johnson of Alton spent Sunday afternoon at her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Johnson. Roy Simpson and family visited Sunday at Burl Johnson’s. W.I. Cotham has been doing some inside carpentering on the new building for Mr. Curtner. The infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grover Lance was laid to rest at the Lance Cemetery, the funeral was conducted by Rev. Shields at the home. Mr. and Mrs. John Williams visited Mr. and Mrs. Grover Lance Sunday. Levi Johnson is wearing a broad smile on account of a baby boy arriving at his house a few days ago. The little gentleman has been named Thayne. Mrs. Carter is staying with Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Johnson. Mildred Williams spent the weekend with friends at Cave. Several in this community are reported sick, they are Mack Johnson, wife and baby and his mother, Mrs. Lizzie Johnson, Mrs. Emma Flannery and mother, Mrs. Nan Harder and Mrs. Mattie Lowry, who have been sick are some better at this time. SMD March 2, 1933 NEW LIBERTY: R.N. Allmon and Otto Barrett made a business trip to Mammoth Springs, Arkansas Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Brown spent Sunday with W.S. Stewart and family. Master Dewie Allmon is in bed this week with a crippled knee caused from sticking a nail in it. Mrs. Eliza Albert is on the sick list this week. Mrs. D.S. Reed and Mrs. Elbert Reed attended the funeral of Mrs. Jim Butts on Barren Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Johnson of Greer visited here Saturday night. Sam Brawley of Summersville is visiting friends and relatives at this place. Richard Albert, who has been visiting here for the last month, returned to his home at Centerville, Missouri Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Ross and baby spent Saturday night at the A.L. Taylor home at Alton. Miss Tressia Smith spent last week end at the C.S. Douglas home. George Ross attended the sale at Wilderness Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Briles spent Saturday at R.N. Allmon’s. Mr. and Mrs. Doris Weaver visited Saturday night at the J.A. Shehorn home at Greer. Mrs. L. Parrott spent Saturday night with Mrs. W.R. Briles. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Barrett were in Fremont Tuesday on business. MANY SPRINGS: Bad colds seem to be the order of the day here. J.M. Johnson is some better at present. Mrs. Clarence Lowry and little daughter, Sue, who have been real sick are some better at present. Born on February the 18th to Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Forester, an 8 lb. girl. Mr. and Mrs. Levi Johnson and two little sons, Wayne and Thayne, spent Sunday at his fathers, J.M. Johnson’s. Mrs. Ell? Lewis spent the day Tuesday with Mrs. Emma Flannery. Mrs. N.E. Harder visited Mrs. Curtner Tuesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Cotham visited with Mrs. Emily Baker and Miss Edna one day last week. Mrs. Amanda Wheeler spent Saturday night with Mrs. Emma Lowry. Mrs. Luretta Cotham visited Mrs. Oliver and mother Monday. J.H. Johnson is attending court this week. Miss Susie Forester is visiting relatives in Kansas. WILDERNESS: Mr. and Mrs. Mac Simpson and family of Barren spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Simpson. Raymond Millsap and Irvin Simpson called at the Andy Simpson home Sunday morning. Al Robinson motered to St. Louis Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. R. Marley called on Mr. and Mrs. Guy Simpson Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. John Thompson are the parents of a baby boy, born Monday, February 20. Willie Forester and wife spent the weekend at the Ance Brown home. T.J. Thompson and wife were visitors at the P.A. Simpson home Sunday. Irvin Simpson spent Saturday night with Raymond Millsap. There will be a pie supper and program at the Wilderness school house Friday night. Rev. Simpson had dinner with Lilly Huskey Sunday. J.B. Boze of Cates Pond was a business caller here Monday. Clyde Simpson, Beulah and Daphon Simpson and Webb Hall made a trip to Alton to Alton and Thayer Tuesday on business. Mr. and Mrs. Mac Simpson called on Mrs. John Thompson Sunday morning. W.E. Hall and family left for Phillipsburg, Missouri Wednesday where they will make their future home. We regret to loose them from our community. Miss Alma Simpson of this place and Mr. Frank Parker of Alton surprised their many friends by getting married at Alton, Saturday February 25th. Raymond Dixon of Woodside spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dixon. Leona Brown and Zelma Forester called on Mrs. S.A. King Sunday evening. Maxine Millsap spent Sunday night with Edith Simpson. Ernest Thompson spent Saturday night with Garnet Simpson. Olney Brown made a trip to Greer Saturday. J.R. Simpson took a load of hogs to Alton Thursday for Webb Hall. PUBLIC NOTICE: Notice is hereby given that I, James Nevils, convicted of the crime of Manslaughter in the County of Oregon, Missouri on the 11th day of June 1932 and sentenced to Five (5) years imprisonment in the penitentiary at Jefferson City, have made application for Parole and will be given a public hearing before the State Prison Board at said penitentiary on March 6th, 1933.
