SNOW UPDATE (7AM)...what a weird storm w/ a hit for some and a miss for others....the uncertainty w/ this forecast was how far south and west the snow bands from the coastal storm would go...looks like last night several snow bands continued to stream down through Central MD south to Charles and northern St Marys county...Calvert as well as parts of the lower Eastern Shore seemed to miss a lot of the heaviest bands ..all winter weather advisories have been discontinued on the Eastern shore where we and many other forecasters thought the snow would be the heaviest. The earliest EURO modeling of this event several days ago did show one thing-the presence of the snow bands we are seeing currently as far south and west as Richmond, VA down to the Norfolk/Hampton Roads area, however the EURO eventually backed off on snow reaching that far south and west and showed the heaviest snow over the Delmarva. Light snow will continue through the morning in bands moving north to south over Central MD, Western MD and Southern MD...maybe some scattered bands on the Delmarva. Winter Weather advisory continues west of the Chesapeake through the morning, so take care on the roads this -especially the secondary roads. Finally, post your snow amounts and current conditions here: I have 2 inches of snow, Mechanicsville, St Marys, Co, still reporting light snow.
