SOMETHING TO PONDER IMMANUEL - GOD WITH US Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:14) NKJV Isaiah was minding his own business, doing his own thing when God suddenly invaded his life and chose him to prophesy of the coming Saviour, Jesus Christ. His name is also Immanuel, meaning God with us. Thousands of years later, God invaded Marys life and said to her, And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus. (Luke 1:37) NKJV. The name Jesus means Saviour. His name is also, Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). He has many names. Many people say the greatest miracle is that He was born through the womb of a virgin who was called Mary. But I think the greatest miracle of all was that an awesome, Almighty God, the creator of this entire universe and of all life forms could reduce Himself to a single, tiny cell and be conceived in the womb of a virgin, born in the likeness of man and dwell among us, Immanuel, God with us. When Mary reached full term in her pregnancy, the Bible says, And she brought forth a Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling clothes, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. (Luke 2: 7) NKJV. Nobody had room for Immanuel. Everybody was busy, the inns were full, but a stable received him. Imagine a King being born in a stable. This very moment, Immanuel wants to be with you. He wants a place in your heart! Will you turn Him away? Will you be too busy to give Him the time of day? Friend God delights in loving you and He wants the best for you. Hence Jesus went on the cross to ransom us from the clutches of sin. Dont turn Him away!
