The Municipality of Gloria will celebrate its 10th Kawayanan Festival and 49th Founding Anniversary from September 28 to October 1, 2013, with the theme, “Turismo, Negosyo at Kalikasan, Sandigan ng Kaunlaran”. Highlighted with various activities to promote and boost our tourism potentials, the four-day celebration aims to foster unity and cooperation with our kababayans not only in our municipality but also in our province, our region, our neighboring provinces as well as in Metro Manila. The municipality of Gloria is in the center of Oriental Mindoro which is the regional center of the MIMAROPA Region composed of the provinces of Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan. Gloria serves as a link to various tourist destinations in the MIMAROPA Region through the Nautical Highway. The festival is in support of the National Tourism Development Plan of the Department of Tourism (DOT) which has set a target of 10 million international visitors and 56 million domestic travelers by 2016. The DOT’s international visitors target this year is 5.5 million which is a considerable increase from the 4.3 million international tourist arrivals recorded in 2012. The volume of domestic travelers last year was recorded at 40.7 million and it is expected to increase to 44.1 million this year. The MIMAROPA Region is one of the most visited regions in our country. Activities during the four-day festival are: Press conference and promotion of the 10th Kawayanan Festival and the Municipality of Gloria’s “One Barangay, Two Products” at the Pamilyang Pinoy Travel Expo 2013 at the Garden Square, Harrison Plaza (HP), Malate, Manila on Sept. 28-29 Alay-Lakad and Alay-Tanim in Gloria on Sept. 28 Local and Overseas Jobs Fair in Gloria on Sept. 28 and Overseas Jobs Fair on Sept. 28-29 in Manila Kawaya-Run in Gloria on Sept. 28 Kapitolyo Para sa Mamamayan Medical, Dental and Optical Mission in Gloria on Sept. 29 Blood Donation Campaign in Gloria on Sept. 29 Livelihood Seminars on Recycling of Waste Materials, Organic Farming and Acharang Labong Making in Gloria on Sept. 30 Thanksgiving Mass in Gloria on Oct. 1 Kawayanan Dance Festival Parade in Gloria on Oct. 1 Children’s Month Celebration in Gloria on Oct. 1 Coronation of Ms. Gloria Tourism 2013, Launching of Ms. Gloria 2014, and Gloriano Night in Gloria on Oct. 1 Expected to visit the Kawayanan Festival are thousands of our kababayans in the MIMAROPA and CALABARZON Regions as well as in Metro Manila who are interested to discover the tourist destinations and products of Gloria and Oriental Mindoro.
