START THEM YOUNG: I had this great insight from a young school drop-out last week who became a KAGAWAD in Maricaban, Pasay City, a depressed area beside the creek, where living becomes a life and death survival situation. Jong Mauro Barcoma, in his early 20s, shared why he won as Kagawad in the midst of political patronage. He campaigned that in order for the community to be worth living in, he will champion the formation and education of the youth, so that when these young are formed in their early years of development, they will become honest, responsible, and good citizens, no matter their status in life. The guy, unschooled though he is from known schools, showed the right values and priorities. I believe this is the solid solution to dishonesty and unbridled corruption.
