STATE FUNDING BOOST FOR LOCAL COMMUNITY GROUPS Seven community groups in the Barron River electorate are among those who will benefit under the latest round of State Government community funding. They share a total of almost $100,000 in Funding Round 77. It’s part of millions of dollars provided across Queensland through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund. Member for Barron River, Michael Trout said he was delighted to convey the news to these not for profit organisations in recognition of the valuable work they perform in the Barron River community. Organisations within the Barron River electorate to receive funding in this round were: Centrals Juniors Afl Club - $17,402.00 Guides Queensland Freshwater Girl Guides - $9,539.09 Marlin Coast Men’s Shed - $34,167.00 Freshwater And District Horse And Pony Club Incorporated - $14,413.00 Marlin Coast Meals On Wheels Inc - $13,146.00 Kuranda Envirocare Inc - $606.34 Tropical Arts $10,162.71 The funds are awarded to the organisations to help them provide community services or activities that benefit the Queensland community. “For example, Freshwater Girl Guides will utilise their funding to instal solar power and a hot water system. Marlin Coast Meals on Wheels will put their funding into the purchase of a much needed combination oven,” Mr Trout said. “The grants are designed for approved not-for-profit organisations and are not intended to replace existing sources of support for these organisations.” “The next round of funding closes on 30 November, and I urge not for profit organisations in my electorate to apply. “Interested organisations can contact my office for assistance with applying, or for a letter of support. “To have seven groups in my electorate awarded funding in this round was great news, but we can always hope to better that in the next round,” Mr Trout said.
