STRENGTH FOR TODAY (The Covenant Keeping God) David was faced with a challenged that he looked at with excitement. He had never faced such a challenge before but he was confident of one thing. He had a covenant keeping God who would not allow His name to be shamed. When David stood before his brothers and men of the army of Isreal and called Goliath an uncircumcised Philistine, he knew what he was saying. He was saying, I have a covenant with Jehovah and because of that I know he cannot successfully defeat our army. He knew the promise of God in Deut 28:7 that said, ”they (your enemies) shall come out against you one way, and flee before thee seven ways.” David believed that promise and as such was not afraid of the lion, the bear or Goliath. His faith was in God and he knew God would not fail him. David operated by faith in his covenant with God. You have to do the same. The God you serve is the same God that David served. You are under a better covenant based upon better promises. Your covenant was ratified by the blood of Jesus. If you have a giant sized problem, then check your focus. Fix your gaze on the covenant keeping God and His promises. Fix your gaze on the size of his power and his ability. Do not look at the size of your problem because it is deceptive. Look at the size of your God and all your fears will leave you. David stood fearless before the giant that put fear into the hearts of seasoned warriors and he was not afraid because of the greater one that was on his side. He, the greater one, is with and in you so fear not. Remember your covenant with Him and know that of a certainty He will keep it where you are concerned. Confession: I serve a covenant keeping God who is bigger than anything the enemy can ever throw at me. I am confident of His ability and faithfulness. Scripture reading: 1 Sam 17:26-50
