SUMMARY OF PREDICTED ICE STORM FOR LATE THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY NIGHT... ⦁ Rain is likely in West TN on Thursday and Thursday night with temperatures falling. ⦁ After midnight, Thursday night, north of I-40, the rain will transition to freezing rain as surface temperatures in that area fall to or just below freezing. ⦁ Friday, freezing rain will continue over areas north of I-40 while spreading over the area south of I-40 by noon. ⦁ Freezing rain is expected to continue Friday afternoon as temperatures hover between 28-32 degrees over West TN. ⦁ The freezing rain will diminish by late Friday night. Lows Friday night are expected in the middle 20s. ⦁ Duration of freezing rain could be 12-hours in portions of West TN north of I-40. Southern areas could see 6 hours of freezing rain. ⦁ Ice accumulation: north of the I-40 corridor could have easily be a half-inch or more. Along the I-40 corridor greater than a quarter inch of ice accumulation is probable. (THESE ACCUMULATION AMOUNTS COULD CHANGE.) ⦁ Expect travel difficulty and potential power outages with this storm. ⦁ After a break from the precipitation Saturday, freezing rain will return along with sleet on Saturday night. Freezing rain will continue Sunday morning before changing to rain Sunday afternoon.
